Economic Security

Provide universal basic services and universal basic income to eliminate survival desperation.

Universal Basic Services

We provide abundant public housing as detailed in public housing. We provide full coverage healthcare as detailed in healthcare for all. We create community kitchens and food distribution systems. We offer lifelong learning as detailed in education. We treat water, power, and internet as public infrastructure, not profit centers. We build robust public transit systems.

Universal Basic Income

Beyond universal basic services, we provide enough to live comfortably, not just survive. This is funded by automation and AI productivity taxes. When machines and algorithms produce value, that value goes to everyone, not just owners of machines.

People engage in productive activity by choice, not survival necessity. This fundamentally changes the employment relationship.

Social Security

We expand coverage to include more workers. We increase benefits to ensure dignified retirement. We eliminate the cap on taxable income so wealthy pay their share.

We provide family leave for new parents. We offer medical leave for illness or caring for ill family members. We enable educational leave for skill development and retraining.

Why This Matters

When survival is guaranteed, workers can refuse exploitative employment. They can form cooperatives. They can pursue education. They can care for family. They can create art. They can organize communities. They can do work that matters instead of work that merely pays bills.

This eliminates the coercion in employment. Work becomes chosen engagement rather than survival necessity.

Integration With Full Platform

Economic security enables everything else. Workers with economic security can organize unions without fear of being fired and losing healthcare. They can form cooperatives without terror of failure meaning homelessness. They can refuse extractive employment and demand better. They can pursue education and develop skills. They can care for communities and families.

This is the foundation. When people aren’t desperate, they have power.
